It is best to check the temperature of the salt blocks by carefully touching their surface. Ideally, it should feel warm but not be burning hot. To put it simply, ensure the rock salt temperature is one that would be comfortable for contact with your skin for twenty to sixty minutes without damaging your skin. A general rule of thumb is to ensure that the blocks are slightly warmer than your hot bath water.
If you do find that you have overheated the salt blocks accidently, do not pour water on them to cool them down. Simply leave them alone for up to 15 minutes in order to reduce the temperature. Once you achieve the desired temperature, place a towel on the floor and put your blocks there beside each other.
Next, sit in a comfortable chair and place your feet on the blocks so that every part of your foot comes in contact with the salt block. Begin with your toes and work your way down towards your heels. You should not have to strain your back or your feet in any way when using these blocks. Take at least twenty minutes for yourself to obtain optimum benefits. Wipe down your blocks when you are done and store them safely until your next session.
